民國50與60年代的大高雄，延續著日治時期完善的鐵道系統與港灣設計規劃，為今日的產業發展立下良好的基礎。加工出口區、臨海工業區以及十大建設的推動，更吸引大量的勞動人口的移入，密集的勞動人口與高效率的勞動生產力，不僅帶動高雄整體社會經濟的發展，更造就了台灣獨一無二的經濟奇蹟。但也因此，勞工、工業以及環境汙染，即成為臺灣社會各界，對於大高雄社會文化與生活型態的一種想像。
但對本會而言，「勞工」不僅是城市的生產力，其更具有一種推動社會民主，代表基層群眾力量的象徵。當代的勞工與勞動生活，不應只是被動接受資本市場的剝削，更重要的是當代的勞動者，已能透過勞動意識以及公民意識的崛起，藉由身體力行的方式投入社會革新與創新，甚至積極的為社會中的不公，或因政治或社會種種壓迫而遭受權益損害者挺身而出。
關於社團法人高雄市勞動生活教育促進會，於民國95年成立，是由一群在地關心勞動權益、致力於推動成人學習與社區教育、關心環境發展、促進公民參與，依據人民團體法設立之非營利組織。本會之目的在藉由成人學習之方式，宣導進步意義的勞動生活概念、推廣勞工法制教育概念、爭取勞工權益、促進社會改革。
In the 50s and 60s of the Republic of China, Kaohsiung continued perfect railway system and harbor planning and design during the Japanese Occupation, laying a good foundation for today's industrial development. The promotion of the Export Processing Zone, the Linhai Industrial Zone and the ten major construction projects has attracted a large number of laborers who moved to Kaohsiung. The dense labor population and high-efficiency labor productivity have not only promoted the overall social and economic development of Kaohsiung but also created a unique economic miracle in Taiwan. Therefore, labor, industry, and environmental pollution have become an imaginary impression that all of Taiwanese society has on the social culture and lifestyle of Kaohsiung.
To the association, "labor" is not only the productivity of the city, it also has a symbol of promoting social democracy and representing the power of the grassroots masses. Contemporary labor and labor life should not only passively accept the exploitation of the capital market. More importantly, contemporary laborers have been able to participate in social reform and innovation through the rise of labor awareness and civic awareness and practicing what one preaches. They even actively step forward to help those who have suffered damage to their rights due to social injustice , and political or social oppression.
About the Kaohsiung Labor Life Education Promotion Association.
It was established by a group of people who care about labor rights, the promotion of adult learning, community education, environmental development, and citizen participation in the 95th year of the Republic of China. It is a non-profit organization which was established in accordance with the People’s Organization Law. The purpose of the association is to promote the concept of progressive labor life and labor legal affairs education, fight for labor rights, and promote social reform through adult learning.
